An exuberant album by Akira Miyazawa, the tenor saxophonist who made substantial contributions to the development of Japan’s jazz scene. Backed by the energetic and progressive modern jazz trio consisting of Masahiko Sato (piano, percussion), Yasuo Arakawa (bass), and Masahiko Togashi (drums, percussion), Bull Trout emerged as one explosive album – with all four songs “Bull Trout”, “Brown Trout”, “Ayu”, and “Rainbow Trout” being excellent tracks in their own right. It was originally released in 1969 as part of the Victor Entertainment series, and has now been reissued under the Deep Jazz Reality project by Yusuke Ogawa of Universounds.
