// Essential Listening

Before Kruder & Dorfmeister released their celebrated The K&D Sessions and DJ-Kicks mixes – the Austrian electronic music duo first broke through with their cult and unsung 1996 LP released on Spray / Shadow Records.

Conversions was their first full-length DJ mix album, presenting the purest distillation of their drum & bass influences. Even at this early stage, they were already masters on the decks, moulding a seamless hour-long journey through their downtempo dub and D&B palette.

While they would later go on to produce plenty of liquid and languid remixes in that style (for stars as varied as Depeche Mode, Roni Size, Lamb, and Madonna) – Conversions is populated with cultured tracks from the UK pioneers such as The Ballistic Brothers jazzy “Come On (Simon Templar Remix),” Omni Trios atmospheric Nu Birth of Cool and Skannas warmly percussive Find Me. –
