Spacing out was definitely high on the guys list; cause there was by all means more room for experiments after these Colours; and indeed, Emotional Playground emerged shortly after, carrying a more abstract, more elaborate flavour the latter not necessarily related to thrash the whole time, recalling Voivod on the more dissonant excursions. It was a great recording on all counts, a logical evolvement from the album reviewed here, but not for the regular thrash metal fandom. How far down the rabbit hole the band were preparing to reach, it didnt become clear as they split up; Latvala showed up in 1994 in team with his brother, the drummer Jussi, for the release of Wooden Eye under the name Latvala Bros. (naturally), an all-instrumental affair which kept the trademark Stone tools by also accentuating Roopes outstanding fretwork for the production of another progressive/technical thrash masterpiece that may have been the last Stone album.
