Woobis the stage name ofPaul Frankland, an English composer, musician and filmmaker who started recording in the early 1990s. Woob’s albums combine elements ofambient,downtempoandspace music, with samples fromfield recordings. Frankland has also recorded under the names of Journeyman and Max & Harvey. After a period working as a composer and sound designer predominately for Ridley Scott Associates, he started releasing new material as woob’ in 2010. After that time, Woob’s works have gradually shifted towards a more synthwave-oriented sound and adopted a cyberpunk/futuristic imagery. NewRetroWave Records welcomes Woob to its roster as they begin their summer release campaign. Vooll is an exceptional exploration into uncharted synth territory. To help relaunch her career, aging K-Pop star Yu-sa travels back in time to 1991 using an experimental time displacement program called voollwhere she dies tragically in a freak accident.
After unsuccessfully trying to reverse the incident she creates a time disturbance causing herself to glitch between 1991 and 2991. 30th century Seoul has been infested by a sentient, alien fungus that communicates with the apparition telepathically.
